GFCF Announces 2013-2014 Officers & New Trustee

The Board of Trustees of the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation Inc. recently elected two new officers for 2013-2014: Bridgett Mundy, President and Chris Widman, Vice President. Aaron Smith will continue to serve as the Board Treasurer and Executive Director Michele Cochran will serve as the Standing Secretary of the Board. Additionally, Chris Posey has been elected to serve as a Board Trustee.
The Greater Fostoria Community Foundation recently distributed three grant awards totaling $112,000: 1) $85,000 to the Geary Family YMCA from the Miller Family Donor Advised Fund for additional work on fields 4 and 5 at Foundation Park including fencing, new dugouts, warning track, seeding and more; 2) $23,000 to the Geary Family YMCA from the Miller Donor Directed Pooled Fund for sealcoating parking lots and driveways at Foundation Park; and 3) $4,000 to Good Shepherd Home toward the purchase of a car transfer simulator and a driving simulator.
Table sponsor reservations are now being taken for the 12th Annual Greater Fostoria Community Foundation Mardi Gras Extravaganza, which will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Meadowbrook Park Ballroom in Bascom, Ohio. GFCF Awards $12,900 To Three Organizations

The Greater Fostoria Community Foundation recently awarded $12,900 to three area non-profit organizations who submitted grant applications for consideration this spring. ** The City of Fostoria received a $4,700 grant from the Miller Donor Directed Pooled Fund and $4,700 from the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation Fund. The grants will be used to purchase a lift to aid persons with disabilities in and out of the pool, and a new set of steps for ease of access. Both are required to bring the pool into ADA compliance. The grant will also replace umbrellas on the lifeguard chairs and concession stand tables. ** The Ritz Theatre Teen Thespian Guild received a $2,500 award from the Miller Family Donor Advised Fund. The RTTG is open to students in grades 9-12 that are interested in acting and creative expression. They participate in all areas of theatre including mainstage and backstage. ** F.A.C.T. received a $1,000 grant from the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation Fund to provide financial assistance to patients in Fostoria for out-of-pocket cancer-related expenses that are not covered by insurance or another source.
